We're bringing y'all along on some more of our adventures from our last visit.  There are few things better than a good old fashioned milkshake -- so we decided to pop on over to Evans Diner.  It's a little bit farther than our usual food outings, but when you need a diner milkshake... no distance is too far. Let's hear it for hometown favorites.  It was, of course, so humid after about 5 minutes outside we felt like we'd been swimming, so ditched our petticoats and dresses and decided to channel our inner Audrey + Marilyn and wear our some vintage-inspired tops from The Original Bad Girl.  These are some of our new favorite wardrobe pieces since casual, retro-styled tops can sometimes be difficult to find (ot to mention, the stripes are the perfect background for novelty brooches).

This is definitely the summer where we've both embraced shorts + cigarette pants, which makes us feel a little more "edgy and a little less femme" than usual.  It's fun to change it up every once and w a while.  Also, after writing those post, we're not sure if the increased amount of resting bitch face in these photos is because of the weather or because we were channeling our inner-original bad girl.

Vintage #badgirlcrush – Brigitte Bardot

One of our favourite Original Bad Girls and main influences behind some of our most popular styles (The BB & BLAZE Top), is the one and only iconic french Actress and Model Brigitte Anne Marie Bardot!

Born in Paris in 1934, dancing was a big influence in Brigitte’s childhood. In 1947 she trained as a ballerina for three years, with other dancers affectionately referring to her as ‘Little Doe’ – who could blame them with those big hazel eyes!

In 1949 she modelled for one of her mothers friends in a fashion show, and at age 15 she graced the cover of Elle in 1950.

Brigitte's acting career launched in 1952, she starred in over 47 films and was nominated for a BAFTA for best foreign actress. We love Bardot in The Girl in the Bikini & And God Created Woman

“I knew I had to be the best at something, otherwise I would be nothing. I knew I wanted the world to know about Brigitte Bardot.”

Bardot retired from show business in 1973 and established the Foundation for the Protection of Distressed Animals in the late 70’s igniting her passion as an animal activist.

“I gave my beauty and my youth to men. I am going to give my wisdom and experience to animals.”

She went onto set up the Brigitte Bardot Foundation For The Welfare And Protection Of Animals in 1986, her work led to the Council Of Europe banning the importation of seal fur and the French Government banning the import of Ivory. Bardot remains a prominent animal activist to this day!

Her distinguished style inspired both ends of the fashion spectrum, a classic boat neck T shirt became known internationally as the Bardot top and available from most clothing stores. Bardot has also inspired the high end fashion houses; Isabel Marant focused their Spring 2013 collection on her relaxed beach style, Lancel created the BB bag in 2010 which respects animals and nature having no leather or chemical colouration involved in its production, and Robert Cavalli’s 2008 Spring / Summer collection shown at Milan was largely influenced by Bardot’s role in ‘Viva Maria!’, a true style icon!

Here’s how to channel your inner Bardot with TOBG
A red boatneck top is a timeless classic, perfect for those late summer evening barbeques and cocktails! Try the JD Top in Red or Maroon, or for some extra heat, the fiery red Lurex edition!
Nothing beats blue jeans and a white t shirt, throw on the mystery girl t shirt, your favourite jeans and a messy beehive for a relaxed bardot look!

One of her most iconic looks, a striped t shirt, so effortless tucked into high waisted shorts or capri pants! Get the look with the BB Top in Black & White or Beat Girl Top, perfect for late night twisting!
No Bad Girl look is complete with those iconic hoops, try the FRIDA LAS VEGAS hoops in gold, and why not add the black and red version to your collection!

Don’t forget to add #TOBGSTYLE & #theoriginalbadgirl to your photos so we can see how you channel your inner Bardot!
